Antique Japanese Lacquered Box Pillow.  Pillows like these would be used by people with elaborate hairstyles, like Geisha, that needed to keep their hair arrangements intact as they slept. The silk pillow of the hakomakura is wrapped in paper and sits upon a lacquered box rest. Pattern and design vary with each pillow.   Sold individually.
